Day 17: Building Jeff Mach’s Giant robot koch
Today we checked the stability and strength or the locomotion system. They easily supported my 200 pounds with not so much as a groan. What can I say?Yes, they really are that big, and I know how to use them…

I forgot why Thomas is making a giant robot for Steampunk World’s Fair ( steampunkworldsfair ) , I just know that he is, and it’s been entertaining to watch.

"And Jeff did say "let there be a Giant Robot!"And Ops & Logs did groan. But then there came a mighty heroWho vowed to take up the epic task,And there was much rejoicing…”
"And on the 17th day,The Giant Robot did possessFull and mighty legs,Which were attached at the top,As is the custom. And these legs did support a great weight,With such strength and easeThat all who beheld were amazed,And they captured images of the sceneTo share with all on social media sites. And the internet saw it,And it was good.”

someone mentioned april fools today, and it reminded me that last year a couple of radio DJs got taken off the air and almost faced felony charges because they told their audience that the local water supply was contaminated with “Dihydrogen Monoxide” and alot of people panicked

Dihydrogen - (two hydrogen)
Monoxide - (one oxygen)
H2O

some guys almost got arrested for telling people there was water in their taps.

Haha WOW. “DHMO” has a fake propaganda website and everything.

I’ve got a master’s degree in chemistry. Chemophobia is one of my pet peeves.

Hint - everything is chemicals. Also, remember the line from Paracelsus: dosis facit venenum, “the dose makes the poison.” Everything is lethal in a sufficiently large amount; everything is safe in a sufficiently small amount.

Josh I love you and I agree with what you’re saying, but I think your expectations are a little too high if you think people will remember a line from Paracelsus

But, this is exactly WHY I love Josh :)

Can I say how amazed and proud I am of her for being able to do that? She said she was mostly working the reg desk, I think? I wouldn’t be able to do all that, even with days of sleep afterward.

A-fucking-men. I can’t tell you how proud of her I am. Not only did she work the box office, she co-managed it. Not only that, but she was a gatekeeper for me - she handled all the public thousand-cut-death stuff for me while I handled crises. Not only that, but she was interviewed for a bit of online-press, too. She was awesome this weekend.

Alive is good. We miss you guys already. Thank you for a fantastic weekend.

Really glad you guys enjoyed yourself. It was really good to see the two of you, even if we were pretty stuck in work mode (as often happens with us)

Alive is good.

Yes, yes it is.

Seriously though: it was a lot o fun, for once, and my team and I kicked some serious ass, even if it was just the B-hotel.

Oh Nooooooo! As someone who gets significant hangovers (I remember seeing something about that) I suggest ramen broth (or some kinda broth) over water. always makes me perk up faster.

Nah, not a hangover - just exhausted. Thursday was a 9am to 11pm day of working, Friday was a 10am to midnight. Saturday was 8am to 5am, and today was 10am to whatever time it is now. Jen hit a wall about noon-ish today and has been in bed since. She’ll be fine, just needs a metric ton of sleep.

How’s Jen?

She’s pretty beat, but better than before. She’s sleeping off a fairly bad headache at the moment.

I’m confused.

There people at work that I wish to kill, because of their inability to communicate and delegate. Since I am the most reliable, and essentially middle-management, it falls on me at the end of the metaphorical day.
